Liminal Boundaries - group show - Luce Gallery - Turin

through March 17th 2012

Luce Gallery is pleased to open the 2012 exhibition programme with a group exhibition of four artists very much devoted to developing a non-conventional approach to the medium of painting, as envisaged – and examined – in a hybrid dimension that flourishes within a range of liminal boundaries. Starting from this field of enquiry, a potentially inexhaustible dialectical interplay is established between surface and volume, painting and sculpture, light and objects, or even time and space, whereby the illusion of form emerges as the only genuine content worth experiencing. Blue, indigo, grey and similar hues make up the chromatic background of the entire installation, favouring a perceptual analysis that is in many ways unprecedented and capable of transcending the primacy of colour, not least in order to bring out components which may be regarded as non-traditional for painting. Representational images here give way to abstract and minimalist forms of expression, which each artist adapts to his own markedly unique language – a language that nonetheless shares the same experimental and purposefully temporary framework as the other creations.
