Hephaestus: group show - Office Baroque - Brussels

through April 5th 2014

Catharine Ahearn, Mathis Altmann, John Finneran, Thomas Gilissen, Michael Rey
Hephaestus is the Greek god of fire, metalworking, stonemasonry and the art of sculpture. He is usually depicted as a bearded man holding hammer and tongs, the tools of a smith and riding a donkey. He is also the patron of trades related to ovens. Thrown off mount Olympus he was crippled for life - what he lacks in lower body mobility, he makes up for with his inventiveness and superior craftsmanship.
